Dorothy Prior was named "Citizen of the Year" Monday evening at the annual Loyal Chamber of Commerce banquet held at the Amber Inn in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.)

Prior is the owner of Prior's Jewelry in Loyal, which was started by her and her late husband Robert in 1948.

The first shop the Prior's opened was located adjacent to her husband's father's property. The present store was built in 1948 in conjunction with Ed's Bake Shop.

She has been an active member of the Loyal community for years, and has served as Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, board member and officer of the Loyal Chamber of Commerce, is an active member in Community Fund, Women's Study Club, and an officer of Easter Star.

Dorothy is the mother of four children, Mike in Madison, Scott in the state of Washington, Mitchel in Minnesota, and Maureen at home.
