Wortman, Russell D. (29 October 1973 – 9 November 2008)

Russell D. Wortman, 35, of Melrose died Sun. Nov. 9, 2008, in the University of Minnesota-Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born Oct. 29, 1973, in Minnesota.

He worked on the family farm until he moved to Black River Falls and began working at Burnstad’s Grocery Store. Russ was a real people person and jokester.

He is survived by his parents, David and Kathryn Wortman, Melrose; his brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Amy Wortman, Black River Falls; his paternal grandparents, Orlean and Wanda Wortman, Melrose; his maternal grandmother, Viola Olson-Zeitler, Rochester, MN; and his special nephew, Jacob Wortman.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Granville Olson, and his aunt, Denise Storandt.

Funeral services for Russell D. Wortman will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, from Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321), Black River Falls. Jerry Schumacher will conduct services, and burial will be in the Melrose Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at Torgerson’s Funeral home Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
