------ Mantik, Gloria (29 FEB 1964)

Miss Gloria Mantik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mantik, route 1, Abbotsford, and John Armstrong of Park Falls, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Armstrong of Abbotsford, exchanged marriage promises in a candlelight service at 7 o’clock Saturday, Feb. 29.  The Rev. Morris Ohlin of Watertown performed the double ring ceremony during which Mrs. Arnold Tucker sang “Because” and “The Lord’s Prayer”.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor length bridal gown with a fitted bodice of chantilly lace featuring a jewel trimmed scalloped sabrina neckline.  The full hoop skirt of silk organza over taffeta was caught up at intervals with self fabric roses to reveal several tiers of chantilly lace at the hemline.  Her bouffant veil was attached to a queen’s crown of pearls and aurora borealis crystals.  Red roses and white carnations combined in a cascade arrangement with red roses tied in to white satin streamers were carried by the bride.

Three sisters were her attendants and her niece was flower girl, all dressed alike in rose satin sheath dresses with pleated overskirt with cabbage rose trim with shoes and head pieces to match.  Tinted pink carnation wrist corsages were worn by the three attendants and the flower girl carried a basket of red rose petals.

Miss Ruby Mantik was the maid of honor, Mrs. Bruce Armstrong and Miss Sally Mantik were the bridesmaids and Miss Peggy Mantik was the flower girl.

The best man was Peter Shaw, a friend, and Bruce Armstrong, a brother, and John Nelson, another friend, were the groomsmen.  Rocky Mantik, a nephew of the bride, carried the rings.  Gerald Mantik and John Burkholder performed the ushering duties.

For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Mantik chose a teal crepe dress with which she wore black accessories.  Mrs. Armstrong selected a raspberry wool ensemble and brown accessories.  Both mothers had tinted pink carnations.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Dor-Abby high school.  Guests came from Park Falls, Hudson, Wausau, Abbotsford, Athens, Unity, Curtiss, Ripon, Madison, Watertown, Milwaukee, Rockford and Chicago, Ill., and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

After a brief honeymoon in northern Wisconsin, the new Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong are now at home at 2nd Ave. North, Park Falls.  The groom, a graduate of Abbotsford highschool and the Wisconsin State College, Eau Claire, is the proprietor of the House of Music at Park Falls.

His bride is a graduate of the Abbotsford high school and prior to her marriage, was employed in the office of Kraft Foods at Milan.
