John Daellenbach, 87, died at his home, route 1,
Abbotsford, Monday at 9:10 p.m. He
suffered a stroke the previous Wednesday.
The body will lie in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home,
Abbotsford, until noon Friday when it will be taken to Christ Lutheran church to
continue lying in state until 2 o’clock when services will be conducted by the
Rev. F. H. Sprengler. Burial will be
made in the Abbotsford cemetery.
John Daellenbach was born in Switzerland Sept. 20, 1876.
When he was five years old he came to America with his parents who farmed
in the town of Mayville, northwest of Abbotsford.
His marriage to Bertha Woempner took place at Dorchester
in 1907. For the first year of
marriage they lived with her parents in the town of Mayville, then moved to a
farm near Curtiss. Mr. Daellenbach
worked for a time in the round house at Abbotsford while the railroad division
was located here.
About 22 years ago he sold the farm and came to
Abbotsford. He was employed at the
Abbotsford Hardware store until his retirement.
Mr. Daellenbach was always interested in music and played
with various groups and a member of the Tri-City band while that was active.
He was a member of the church choir of Christ Lutheran church and sang
with them until this last illness.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran church and of the Musician’s Union,
Abbotsford local No. 194.
Mr. Daellenbach is survived by two sons and two
daughters, Emil of Abbotsford, Conrad of Manitowoc, Mrs. Herman (Martha) Haack
of Middleton and Mrs. Arthur (Rosa) Folland of Tolley, N.
Dak. There are 12 grand
children and two great grand children.
Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. W. D. (Bertha) Cox of
Duluth, Minn., and two brothers Chris of Siren, Wis., and Paul of Malto, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1948.
Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
