Funeral services for Mrs. A. L. Adams, 84, of Abbotsford
who died at her home Wednesday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. were held Saturday
afternoon at the Polnaszek Funeral Home where the body lay in state from Friday
afternoon until the time of the services.
The Rev. Charles Glidden, pastor of the First
Presbyterian church conducted the services at one o’clock.
Mrs. Rueben Mantik was organist and accompanist for Mrs. Elmer Jensen who
sang “Some Time We’ll Understand”.
The body was taken to Hancock for interment that
afternoon and was accompanied by the pallbearers who were Bob Knight, Louis
Mauritz, Ben Merwin, Einar Olson and Ernest Stover, all of Abbotsford, and Swan
Person of Owen.
The former Cora Ellen Hubbard was born May 28, 1879 in
the town of Hancock and received her education there.
She was a telephone operator before her marriage to Ardin Adams at
Hancock Sept. 29, 1903. During the
first years of their marriage they lived in various places in Michigan and
Wisconsin as Mr. Adams was a telegraph operator.
In April of 1918 they came to Abbotsford and have lived here ever since.
Mrs. Adams has been in frail health, but last Sept. 29
the 60th anniversary of their wedding was celebrated with all the
family in attendance.
She is survived by her husband, one son, Claude S., of
Wauwatosa, and one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Edna) Peterson of Abbotsford.
There are four grand children and nine great grand children.
Also surviving her are three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Coggin,
Mrs. Lana Abbott and Mrs. Ada Meirhofer, all of Hancock.
There are also a number of nieces and nephews.
Two sisters preceded her in death.
Among the relatives from away who were here for the
funeral were Claude Adams of Wauwatosa, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peterson and twin
daughters, Barbara and Carol, of Rockford, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson
and Jimmy and Mrs. Robert Plasch of Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roehl
and Miss Dorothy Coggin of Hancock and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis of Ripon.
