Mr. and Mrs. Peter Slowiak, 742 Park Avenue, observed their golden wedding
anniversary on Saturday, April 25, 1964, when they were honored at a dinner,
reception and dance given by their seven children.
The jubilarians began their special day with the renewal of their marriage vows
at an eleven o'clock Solemn High Mass at St. Mary's Czestochowa, Junction (Clark
Co., Wis.), before an altar banked with yellow mums. Celebrant was the Rev.
Jerome J. Kamla, Knowlton. The Rev. Andrew Karoblis, Cook's Valley, was deacon
and the sub-deacon was the Rev. Rudolph Urbic, Junction. Miss Genevieve Bania
was the organist.
Mr. and Mrs. Slowiak were led into the church by their youngest grandson and
granddaughter, James Slowiak, Stanley, and Pamela Ebben, Thorp, and their oldest
great-grandchildren, David and Jerri Ann Olichwier, Wheaton, Ill. Mass servers
were two grandsons and two great-nephews. After renewing their vows, the Rev.
Kamla presented Mrs. Slowiak with a blessed gold rosary and Mr. Slowiak with a
blessed gold cane.
The bride of fifty years ago wore a beige lace dress with matching accessories
and a corsage of gold colored cymbidium orchids. A yellow rose was pinned to the
lapel of Mr. Slowiak's suit. Their attendants were presented with corsages of
white carnations with gold leaves and ribbons.
A dinner was served at noon at the Stanley Auditorium with covers laid for 100
guests, followed by a reception and dance for 300 guests.
