Under a law passed at the last session of the legislature
there is to be elected at the spring election a County Board of Education
consisting of five members who will have various powers and duties.
As the office draws a very small salary, not to exceed $45 per year, and
involves considerable work, there seems likely to be no scramble for the place.
County Superintendent, Elizabeth Kennedy has been getting suggestions
from persons in various parts of the county as to available candidates for the
place, and a list of men who would be willing to serve made up as follows:
John Huntzicker, Greenwood; Mat. Greisch, Thorp; Dr. Christopherson,
Colby; Editor E. T. Hale, Humbird; W.L. Smith, Neillsville.
Probably no better set of men could be found than these.
Mr. Greisch has had long experience as supervisor and member of the
County Board; Dr. Christopherson is an educated, public spirited man and well
posted in affairs; John Huntzicker’s long experience as County Clerk,; County
Treasurer and in town affairs will make his services invaluable; E.T. Hale,
clerk of the school board at Humbird is a wide awake man in school matters in
which he has had much experience; W.L. Smith is a Normal School graduate, taught
successfully for several years, for sometime bing principal of the North Side
schools in this city and later assistant in the high school before going into
business. Geographically this board
would be well balanced
