Mary Jane Buehrens (24-Feb-1869 -- 23-Jan-1950)
Mrs. John Buehrens, 80, who had been seriously ill for about six weeks following
an attack of influenza, died at her, home here at 8:30 p. m. Monday from
complications arising out of the illness. She became sick two weeks before
Christmas and her condition grew progressively worse during the illness.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held from Salem Evangelical United Brethren
church here at 2 p. m. Friday, Jan. 27. The Rev. V. R. Miller, pastor, will
officiate at the rites, and burial will be in Dorchester Memorial cemetery.
Pallbearers have been chosen to include Dr. A. W. Schief, L. D. Sorenson, E. J.
Werner, Otto Genrich, Fred Dankemyer, Louis Wigstadt, and two grandsons of the
deceased, Harold Buehrens and Donald Buehrens.
Mary Jane Sasman was born Feb. 24, 1869, in Herkimer, N. Y. She came to
Wisconsin with her parents when four years old, and received her schooling at
Black Creek, where she and John Buehrens were married May 26, 1896.
They made their home in Milwaukee for the 12 years immediately following their
marriage, and moved to Dorchester in 1908, when he started a metal working plant
here. She had resided here continuously since. Mr. Mrs. Buehrens celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary with their children in Clintonville in 1946.
Her widower survives, as do their five children: Alvin Buehrens, Fort Atkinson;
Alfred Buehrens, Milwaukee; Mrs. Esther Hanna, San Francisco, Calif.; John
Buehrens, Clintonville, and Herbert Buehrens, Dorchester. Fourteen
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Walter,
Seymour, also survive.
A sister, Sophia, and two brothers, Fred and Julius, preceded her in death.
