Joseph Ruprich (25 April 1875 - 3 April 1953)

Joseph Ruprich, 77, who resided in this community since childhood, died in St. Joseph' s hospital, Marshfield, Friday afternoon April 3, 1953, following his admittance there the previous afternoon for treatment. A heart attack suffered Friday was fatal.

Funeral rites were held from Kingdom Hall Tuesday, April 7 at 3 P. M., with Andrew Zeltner in charge, and burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Fuchsgruber Funeral Service had charge of arrangements, and he lay in state at the local funeral parlors prior to the funeral. Pall bearers were Henry Kauer, Frank Lang, Max Wilke, George Reil, Alfred Hinke, and Richard Fisse.

Joseph Frank Ruprich was born April 25, 1875, in Tyssa, Austria, and immigrated with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel Ruprich when 12 years old. The family settled first in Westboro, shortly thereafter, however, homesteaded the farm northwest of the village, now occupied by Arnold Ruprich. He attended Liberty School and also went to school at Westboro.

On January 9, 1908, he and Hulda Wolf were married here, and they operated the home farm until her death April 26, 1936, with Mr. Ruprich retiring from active farming in 1938. He had worked in several capacities in this and other communities since.

Surviving are three sons, Arnold, Dorchester, Alvin, Wausau, and Elmer, Oshkosh; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Annie) Fisse, Dorchester, and Mrs. Ervin (Hildegard) Jahsman, Wausau, and five grandchildren. One son, Alfred, died in infancy, and he also was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank Ruprich, Sr., Westboro, and a sister, Mrs. Vinz (Vince) Pueschner.
