Erickson, Selma (28 Nov 1933-02 Feb 2013)

Selma M. Erickson, 79, Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Kaiser Hospital, Sacramento. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., on April 6, at Davis Lutheran Church

Selma Mae Thiel was born on Nov. 26, 1933, in Plum City. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1951 and went to Luther Nursing School in Eau Claire. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield until moving to California, where she worked at Riverside Hospital and Later at Roseville Hospital. Eventually she became employed at American River Hospital, where she rose to be supervisor of the I.V. therapy department until she retired. Selma was an expert at crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, sewing, knitting, game night, Gardening, and lunches with nursing friends.

She is survived by her husband, Duane; two daughters, Laurie (Peter) Caietti and Lisa (Tom) Lengtat; four grandchildren; and a sister-in-law. Dorothy Thiel.

Selma is preceded in death by her father, Charles; her mother, Mamie; and three brothers, Gordon, Bruce, and Arlyn.
