Orin Johnson (18 Dec 1919 - 8 Nov 1981)

DORCHESTER – Word has been received of the death Nov. 8 of Orin M Johnson, 61, formerly of Dorchester. He died at a Spokane, Wash. hospital after surgery two days earlier.

Services were held Nov. 11 at Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services are pending at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 18, 1919 in the town of Mayville to Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson. He attended the former Hilltop School and Dorchester High School and was a member of Peace United Church of Christ here.

He enlisted in the Navy and served from 1941 to 1945 on the Destroyer Aylwin D D 355 off the Aleutian Islands. He also attended radar maintenance school.

He married the former Lois Wolf June 17, 1946 in Ogden, Utah. She survives. He later worked for Boeing Aircraft at Seattle, Wash, during which time they lived at Bainbridge Island, Wash. Due to ill health he retired in 1976 and moved to Sandpoint, Idaho.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Kristine Elliott, Missoula, Mont; two sons, Ole Michael and Steve, Sandpoint, Idaho: two sisters, Mrs. Hanford (Edith) Miller, Peru, Neb, and Mrs. Ruth Boeckler, Medford; a brother, Ernest Johnson, Dorchester and two granddaughters.

He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters.
