Humbird (4 July 1968)
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse of Loyal were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe Sunday
and with them drove to view the train wreck at Merrillan.
Mrs. Maude Newton spent last week in Eau Claire with her daughter, Mrs. Helene
Nelson, and visited her brother, E. G. Campbell, and niece, Mrs. Ruth Peterson.
Sunday, Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Peterson brought Mrs. Newton home. They drove to
Alma Center to attend church and then view the parade at the strawberry festival
before being dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thane Joos.
Mrs. Helen Mackness brought Mrs. Matti Smith home from a visit with her son,
Melvin, and family in Appleton. The ladies joined the local Rebekah ladies for a
picnic dinner in the park at Neillsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Korth of Neillsville visited Sunday evening at the Herb Adler
home.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Kirby spent from Thursday until Sunday afternoon on a trip
which took them to Prairie Farm and on to St. Paul, where they visited at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Senske.
Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Lund, Jr., and family from Pennsylvania and Mahlon Lund,
Sr., of Black River Falls are vacationing at the Hein cabin this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brauner of Black River Falls joined Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jarolimek
Sunday to attend the festival and dinner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hallberg of Charles City, Ia., were overnight guests Sunday
at the Leland Duxbury home.
Mr. and Mrs. Leland Duxbury were in Eau Claire Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barnowski and children of Wausau are spending a few days a t
the Ted Polege home.
Mrs. Dan Flynn and daughter, Sheri of Des Plaines, Ill., are spending a week
with her mother, Mrs. Jean Collins, and grandmother. While here she will attend
her high school fifth class reunion on July 5.
