Eric Beisner (1 Jun 1893– 13 Aug 1959)
Funeral services were held here Wednesday for Eric Beisner, who died suddenly
Sunday while visiting in Madison. He and Mrs. Beisner were driving about Madison
with her niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Simmering who reside there, when
death came about 4:00 p.m. Mr. Beisner had enjoyed reasonably good health
recently, although he had been seriously ill three years ago.
The Rev. F. H. Sprengler, pastor, officiated at the final rites in St. Peter’s
Lutheran church here at 2:00 p.m. Aug. 12, and full military honors were
accorded the deceased at Memorial Cemetery where interment was made. Herbert
Juneau of Abbotsford was organist for the funeral services, and sang “The Lord’s
Prayer” and “ Heaven Is My Home.”
Gordon Schief had charge of the military rites for Leach-Paulson Post, American
Legion. A squad of the Abbotsford unit of the National Guard fired the final
salute of three volleys, and William Lehnertz and Donna Schmidt played taps.
Active pallbearers were members of the local Legion post: Gordon Schief, Otto
Genrich, Henry Genrich, William Jantsch, Lowell Maxam, LaVerne Sauter, Frank
Revie and Clifford Wetterau. Directors of the Dorchester State Bank were
honorary pallbearers: F. V. Hiebsch, Dr. A. W. Schief, M. S. Sorenson, Emil
Laabs of Colby, M. F. Lawrie and William Kuehl of Marshfield. In charge of
flowers were Monica Maxam, Judy Olson, Marjo Olson, Judy Beisner, Sharon
Plockelman and Janice Plockelman, nieces of the deceased.
Eric Gustave Beisner was born June 1, 1893, in the town of Mayville. He was
reared on the family farm, attending the neighborhood school and St. Peter’s
Lutheran school in this village. He began working at cheese making when about 16
years old, and continued in that business for 37 years. After retiring from
cheese making, he had worked at carpentry around the community.
During his active years in the cheese business, Mr. Beisner had worked in
Spencer, Corinth, Medford, and the local community. He bought his first cheese
factory at Spencer, later owned and operated what is now the Cloverdale Cheese
Factory in the town of Holton, which he sold to Martin Parsons. For 20 years, he
owned and operated the Mayville Cheese Factory, which he bought from Anton
Nachtwey May 1, 1926. He sold it to a New Jersey Dairy concern July 15, 1946.
He and Eda Olson were married May 22, 1918, at Abbotsford. They have resided in
the village since 1944, (remainder of paragraph is missing)
