Johnstone, Martin Alfred (25 September 1884 - 13 July 1968)
Martin Alfred Johnstone, 83, of Greenwood died at noon Saturday, July 13, at the
Bethel Convalescent Home in Arpin. Following a stroke he was hospitalized at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, May 3; was there about a month and then was
transferred to the home in Arpin.
Mr. Johnstone was born September 25, 1884 in Norway to Albert and Andrea (Olson)
Johnstone. He was married May 8, 1912 to Anna Englebretson. She died December
13, 1914.
When he was a young boy, he came to the United States with his parents and
settle in Chicago, where they lived for a short time before coming to Greenwood.
After his marriage he resided on the farm 1½ miles northeast of Greenwood, where
he has resided ever since.
Surviving him are two sons, Archie of Greenwood and Albert, address unknown. He
was preceded in death by one son, Halfred and one sister, Inga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 at the Hill Funeral
Home. The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold, pastor of our Saviors Lutheran Church will
officiate. Burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
