Mrs. Elizabeth Andre Passes Away
Mrs. Elizabeth Andre, 74, who lived on a farm at Spencer before moving to the
village 31 years ago, died at 12:30 o’clock Thursday morning at her home.
She had been hospitalized before coming home five months ago, and three days ago
she again became ill. She had been in poor health for 2 ½ years.
Mrs. Andre, nee Schacht, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Schwartz)
Schacht, was born in Germany March 2, 1873 and was married November 19, 1891 at
St. John’s Lutheran Church at North Spencer. She was president of the Spencer
Ladies Aid Society for many years and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in
the Village of Spencer. Mrs. Andre had come to America with her parents at the
age of 8 in 1883.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Linda) Wachholz,
Spencer, seven grand children and four great-grandchildren.
Her parents, two brothers and a daughter are dead.
The body lie in state at the Swarthout Funeral Home until Sunday afternoon at
2:00 p. m. when funeral services were held there and at 2:15 at the Trinity
Lutheran Church, Rev. A. C. Stapel had charge of the Services.
Interment was made in the North Spencer Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Norman, Maynard, Donald and Herbert Wachholz, Robert, Andre and
Emil Luepke.
Flower girls were Gertrude Alster, Isabel Wachholz, Lavern Sorensen, and Erma
Wachholz.
Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Val Herman,
Allenton, Wis.; Mrs. Art Huhn, Mrs. George Herman and son, Mrs. Max Pribnow, Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Klemp, Theresa, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Art Hoffman, Mrs. John
Kersenich, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dohm, Boyd; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schwartz, Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Luedke, Oshkosh; Mrs. Harold Alfter and daughter, Maynard and
Irma Wachholz, Milwaukee; Miss Lavern Sorensen, West Allis; Mrs. Otto Seefeldt,
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dittman, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schwartz, Unity.
