Willard (25 July 1968)
On Tuesday of this week members of the junior choir, both boys and girls, also
Knights of the Altar, all members of Holy Family Catholic Church, left Willard
for Marshfield about 9:30 a.m. to enjoy a day of roller skating, a picnic
dinner, ball games, and other amusements.
Carol Govek, 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Govek, has returned home
from Memorial Hospital in Neillsville. She received an injury to her head least
week when she fell from a rope she was playing with.
The Willard 4-H club met recently in the Willard School basement. The meeting
was called to order by the president, Bev Volovsek. The minutes of the last
meeting were read and approved. Cash prizes were presented to the members who
had designed the best safety posters, Joan Rakovec, Jean Rakovec, Mary Govek and
Ruth Krainz. It was decided to enter a float in the Dairy Days parade at
Greenwood last week.
Our Lady of Fatima of the Knights of Columbus held their meeting last Tuesday,
with installation of new officers, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church hall in
Loyal.
Mrs. Joe Lunka has returned home from the hospital in Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. George Marriott and three children of Gardener, Kans., are visiting
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bukovec and other relatives.
Mrs. Harold Mitte, Mrs. Adolph Abel and Mrs. Louis Matkovich have returned from
Glacier National Park, Mont., where they visited their sister. They also were at
National Yellowstone Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Reinhard Popp and family, Tomah, and Mrs. Anna Zakuer and son,
Donald, Crosby, Minn., were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herrick and
Mrs. Anna Herrick.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herrick took Mrs. Anna Petkovsek to the station when she
left to visit the Oliver Smith family in St. Paul, Minn., before returning to
her home in Peoria, Ill.
Mrs. Angeline Kuge of Orlando, Fla., has been here to visit her relatives, Mr.
and Mrs. John Plautz, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Plautz and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Plautz.
Mr. and Mrs. Duane Sessions and children, Ida, Duane, Jr., Paul and Roxann, of
Marathon, spent Sunday at the Frank Pozega home.
Robert Olson of Chicago, Ill., spent a week with relatives here and in
Fairchild.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Burmeister of Milwaukee were weekend guests of relatives
here.
Mrs. John Chemiel of Chicago, Ill., was a guest of her mother, Mrs. Louise
Bukovec, and visited Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bukovec and other relatives in
Greenwood.
Eunice and Nicholas Klapatauskas and Jim Doepke of Milwaukee were weekend guests
at the home of Julius Klapatauskas.
