A Neillsville FFA member was among a number of youth recently honored by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction at an August 8 reception at the governor's office mansion in Madison.

Hosted by the DPI head Herbert Grover, the reception recognized students who placed in skill competitions or wee elected to offices at five national vocational student organization conferences.

Honored from Neillsville was Ken Schmitt, who took a gold emblem in agricultural mechanics competition.
