Mrs. Ernest Rust, Passes Away
Spencer w[a]s saddened Monday when it learned of the passing of Mrs. Ernest
Rust, aged 67 years, wife of Ernest Rust, prominent business man of Spencer.
Mrs. Rust had endeared herself into the hearts of all who knew her. Faithful to
her church, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. Spencer
is better for having known her.
Caroline Wilhelmine Nitz, was born in Pomerania, Germany July 21, 1880 and came
to the United States in 1921 locating at Waukegan, Ill.
She was married to Ernest Rust May 8th 1933 and has since resided in Spencer.
She passed away at her home Monday at 7:30 A. M. after a lingering illness,
growing steadily worse since September.
She returned from the hospital at Marshfield November 21st after 4 weeks there
following an operation November 7th.
Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her passing four stepsons, Wm. Rust of
Yakima, Washington; Herman of Greenwood, Fred of Newton, Wis.; and Henry of Ann
Arbor, Mich. Her only dadghter [sic], Elizabeth (Mrs. Conrad Pietsch) preceded
her in death as did a stepdaughter, Alfrede Rust. Seventeen grandchildren, 1 of
whom is Mrs. George Lincoln (Margot Pietsch) of Wauconda, who spent many summers
here with her grandparents, and one greatgrandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, December 19 at 1:45 at the
Swarthout Funeral Home and at 2 o’clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev.
A. C. Stapel officiating. Burial will be in the West Spencer cemetery.
