Mrs. H. Marten Laid To Rest

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, February 11, at 2 o’clock at Trinity Lutheran Church for Mrs. Herman Marten, 69, who passed away at her home at 2201 N. 38th St., Milwaukee, Saturday evening, February 7. Rev. A. C. Stapel officiated and burial was made in the West Spencer cemetery.

Pallbearers were Daniel Kobs, Willard Kobs, Martin Kobs, Fred Korth, Arnold Bruesewitz and Donald Bruesewitz.

Mrs. Arnold Bruesewitz, Mrs. Martin Kobs, Mrs. Daniel Kobs, Mrs. Fred Korth and Mrs. Willard Kobs had charge of the floral tribute.

Mr. and Mrs. Marten resided in the Spencer community until about ten years ago when they moved to Milwaukee. Mr. Marten started and operated the cheese factory located just west of the North Church, before moving to the village where Mr. Marten served his community as Village President for many years.

Mrs. Marten, nee Anna Voelker, is survived by seven children, Herman Marten, Spencer; Alvin Marten, Weyauwega; and Mrs. Alta Roble, Mrs. Franklin (Helen) Seitz, Mrs. Norman Blandel, and Walter and Bernard Marten, all of Milwaukee. One child preceded her in death.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, and seven brothers and sisters, Mrs. Adella Niugent, San Gabriel, California, Mrs. Caroline Bader, Page, N. Dakota; Mrs. Lydia Schultz, Cedarburg; Mrs. Mary Kobs, Spencer; Charles Voelker, Weyauwega and John Voelker, Marshfield and Mrs. Rose Gersdorf, Mankato, Minnesota.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. H. A. Marten, Mr. and Mrs. (Alta) J. C. Robels, Mr. and Mrs. (Norma) Alex Brandle, Mr. and Mrs. (Helen) Franklin Seitz and Mr. Walter Marten all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Marten and sons, Wayne and Ralph, Weyauwega; Sgt. Alvin Marten, Roswell, New Mexico; Mr. Bernard Marten, West Bend; Mrs. Sylvia Schultze, Cedarburg, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Voelker, Freemont; Mrs. Chas. Justman, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Herb Beaversdorf, Birnamwood; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kops, Curtiss; Mrs. W. Steele, Abbotsford; and numerous relatives and friends from nearby communities.
