Greenwood (15 August 1968)

The Women’s Society of Christian Service met Friday afternoon in Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Elery Moberg presided. Mrs. Leon Kuester gave the Sunshine report and announced Mrs. Verlyn Sloniker will be in charge of “Sunshine” during August. Mrs. Robert Stewart reported 11 boxes of clothing were taken to the Indian Mission at Odanah. The “Methodist Woman” and “World Outlook” magazines were reordered. Mrs. Lee Larson suggested help for the Girl Scouts in some material way and a discussion followed. Mrs. Leon Kuester gave the spiritual life topic and a read, “What’s Wrong with Women.” The next meeting will be held August 16 with Mrs. Lee Larson and Mrs. Kenneth Stafford as hostesses.

The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Monday evening in the Legion hall. Hostesses will be Mrs. Hazel Helwig, Mrs. Truman Hill, Mrs. Alfons Hemersbach, Mrs. Frances Hinker, Mrs. Adolph Jackson and Mrs. Leonard Johnson.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson spent Saturday at Strum, where they attended “Steam Engine Days.” They also visited friends in Eleva.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Decker and family attended a family reunion at Westfield Sunday.

Steven Hemersbach of Waukegan, Ill., is spending two weeks’ vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfons Hemersbach.

Mr. and Mrs. Verne Vollrath and sons of Janesville, were weekend visitors at the Henry Horn and Henry Vollrath home and with other relatives.

Guests Friday at the Hugh Severson home were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brandt.

Dr. and Mrs. John Olson of Detroit, Mich., are visiting his parents, Dr. and Mrs. William Olson, with relatives in Neillsville and at a cabin at Rock Dam.

C.M. Sgt. And Mrs. Keith Stewart and children, Luann, Shirley, Vicki and Mark, arrived Tuesday from Woodbridge, VA., to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hempel and daughters, Debra and Heidi, of Minneapolis, spent several days at the Eugene Carteron and Leniel Meyers homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gustafson of Eau Claire, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neutzhorn and family of Bensenville, Ill., attended the Johnson-Herington wedding Saturday and spent the weekend at the Verhulst and Johnson homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson visited Wednesday in Athens at the Lawrence Neuenschwander home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Debevec of Pasco, Wash., left Monday after spending five days at the home of his brother, Tony Debevec and family, and with other relatives.

C.M. Sgt. Keith Stewart and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart, spent Thursday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Gary Rohde in River Falls.
