Hatton, Evan G. (13 December 1897 - 15 August 1968)
Evan G. Hatton, 70, of Greenwood died August 15 following a lingering illness at
the University Hospital in Madison, where he had been a patient for 10 days.
Mr. Hatton was born December 13, 1897, in Janesville to Frank and Mary (Gibson)
Hatton. His marriage to Laura Wendt took place April 21, 1927, in Winona, Minn.
They lived and farmed near Greenwood. He was a member of Greenwood Lodge, No.
249, S. A. M., and Greenwood Order of Eastern Star.
In addition to his wife, survivors are: a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur (Betty) Lenz of
Greenwood; two brothers, Clark of Greenwood and Russel of Owen, and three
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from Zion United Church of Christ in
Greenwood. The Rev. David Logue officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood
Cemetery. Mrs. Elvera Fravert and Mrs. James Turnquist sang, “Rock of Ages” and
“Evening Prayer” accompanied by Mrs. Elvin Elbert.
Pallbearers were: Lee and Dale Jollivette, Emmett Wallick, Julius Hoehne, Gorden
Christopherson and Edward Rossow.
Masonic services were held Sunday evening at 8 o’clock at the Hill Funeral Home.
Dr. William Olson was chaplain.
