Prior, Dorothy L. (28 SEP 1924 - 3 MAR 2013)
Dorothy L. Prior (Kronberger), 88, died on the Sabbath, March 3, 2013. She was
the eldest child born to Lulu and Leo (Michael Leonard) Kronberger on the family
farm in Clark County on September 28, 1924. Dorothy was raised on the family
farm and attended the Lincoln School and graduated from Loyal High School. She
married Robert K. Prior on June 10, 1945. Upon his death on January 2, 1975,
Dorothy was the sole proprietor of Prior's Jewelry and Gifts. She was a very
successful business woman, earning the Citizen of the Year award. She was an
active member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, the church choir, a Worthy
Matron of the Eastern Star, Sunday school teacher and many fund raising events.
She was an active member of the Loyal Community for years, and had served as Den
Mother, Girl Scout leader, officer of the Loyal Chamber of Commerce, an active
member in the Community Fund, Woman's Study Club and officer of Eastern Star.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Mead Lake.
Dorothy spent the last 11 years at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, WI,
where she lived with Alzheimer's disease.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Leo and Lulu Kronberger; husband,
Robert Prior; daughter, Maureen Ellen Prior, who died in a car accident on July
31, 1976; three brothers, Ivan, Wayne, and Jerry Kronberger; and
brothers-in-law, George Pabich and Norbert Lavey.
She is survived by three sons, Michael (Janice) of Middleton, WI; Scott of
Greenwood, WI; Mitchell (Kristi) of Phoenix, AZ; grandson, Matthew (Shana) Prior
and great-grandson, Landon Prior of Madison, WI. She is also survived by two
sisters, Jean Lavey of Nekoosa, WI; Betty (George) Pabich of Austin, TX; and
three sisters-in-law, Helen Kronberger of Marshfield, WI; Ruth Kronberger of
Neillsville, WI; and Mary Kronberger of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Visitation will be at York Center United Methodist church at 10 a.m. until time
of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, followed by burial at the
Loyal Cemetery. A luncheon will be served afterwards at the American Legion in
Loyal, WI. Please join the family and share your memories of Dorothy.
