Elmer, Ervin D. (6 April 1889 - 25 August 1968)
Ervin D. Elmer, 79, of Ft. Atkinson and formerly of Greenwood, died Sunday
evening in Neillsville. While visiting relatives in Greenwood, he fractured a
hip on July 21 and had been a hospital patient since.
He was born April 6, 1889, in Columbus to Ernest A. and Reka (Knuppel) Elmer. He
moved with his parents to Greenwood in 1902 and resided there for 20 years. He
had been living with his son, Everett, since 1964.
Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Ben F. Hartman, pastor of the Seven Day Adventist Church in Marshfield,
officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, the former Frances O’Shaughnessy; four daughters,
Mrs. Henry (Beatrice) Borkowski of Chicago, Mrs. Louis (Vera) Dester of Anaheim,
Calif., Mrs. James (Stella) Noonan of Milwaukee and Mrs. Oril (Edna) Swieso of
Tacoma Beach, Wash.; two sons, Everett of Ft. Atkinson and Donald of Greenwood;
14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are five
sisters, Mrs. Ellen Finkle of Hinsdale, Ill., Mrs. Al (Olive) Verlindi of Santa
Cruz, Calif., Mrs. Emory (Viola) Gesme of Madison, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy)
Mueller of Mukwonago and Mrs. Albert (Pearl) Hall of Greendale; and three
brothers, Walter of Milwaukee, Ernest of Greenwood and Fred of California.
