Selma Marcott (5 Feb 1894 – 23 Jan 1959)
Funeral services for Mrs. Edward Marcott, 64, were held from Peace Evangelical
church here (Dorchester, Clark County, WI) Monday, Jan. 26. The Rev. Fred W.
Kollath officiated at the 2 p.m. rites, preceding which a granddaughter, Miss
Deanna Marcott played hymns. Mrs. Lloyd Carlson, Mrs. John Mueller, and Mrs.
Frank Rauscher sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “Near the Cross.” Mrs.
Jerome Rankl played the organ accompaniment for the singers.
Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Marcott died in St. Joseph’s hospital, Friday, Jan. 23. She had for some
time suffered ill health which necessitated hospitalization at intervals during
the past year or so.
Selma Ortlieb was born in this community Feb. 5, 1894, and received her
education here. She and Edward Marcott were married June 12, 1911, and had lived
on their farm in the town of Little Black throughout the years of their
marriage.
Survivors include the widower, a daughter, Mrs. H. P. (Evelyn) Schaff, Fall
Creek; a son, Norman Marcott, Cadott, and three grandchildren. Also surviving
are two brothers Albert and Rudolph Ortlieb of this community, and the following
half-brothers and half-sisters: Herman Hingiss, Curtiss; William Hingess, Owen;
Mrs. William (Emma) Ludwig and Mrs. Bertha Paul, Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Edith
Pates, Abbotsford; Mrs. Ida Pagel, Wausau, and Mrs. Emma Kaeen, New York.
