The Freshmen were entertained at a poverty party given by the Eighth Literary Society, Nov. 7th. The guests arrived in poverty costumes and after they were all assembled in the Eighth grade room, the following program was rendered:

1. Flag Salute - Mr. Wood.
2. Canning the Kaiser.
3. Proclamation - Vance Williams.
4. Memories - Helene Baer.
5. Reading - Thanksgiving Story.
6. Song - "Sweet Bunch of Daisies" - Isla LaGrander.
7. Story - Vance Williams.
8. Song "Sweet Erin" - Josephine Pietenpol, Anita Beaver, Isla LaGrander, Ruby Hogenson.
9. Story - Helen Downer.
10. Roll Call. All answered with a joke.

After this, games were played. Refreshments were served in true poverty style.

At supper everyone was called upon to respond with a toast.

A preliminary game between the Freshmen and Eighth grade will be played Friday night before the big game.

The Sophomore Botany class is experimenting on different seeds, for the purpose of finding out their composition.

Withe Glen Hart as cheer leader, the high school students have held mass meetings for the purpose of practicing school yells and songs.

On Friday night, Nov. 9th, the basketball team journeyed to Neillsville where they met defeat at the hands of the high school team there. The girls' game was played first, ending in a score of 7 to 0 in favor of Neillsville.

The boys' game followed at once. The first half was good, clean basketball, ending in a score of 5 to 7 in favor of Neillsville. The next half the Neillsville team came out on the floor with determination to win or kill. The local boys were outweighed by twenty-five pounds to the man so they could not do much against their heavier opponents. The game ended in a score of 30 - 12 in favor of Neillsville.
