Heighton, Benjamin E. (1 MAR 1887 - 16 MAY 1964)
Benjamin E. Heighton, 77, Rt. 1, Gilman, Town of Colburn, passed away at 7:30
p.m., Saturday at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
He was born in the town of Colburn, Chippewa County, on March 1, 1877, the son
of Ben and Mary Ann Heighton. He lived in Colburn his entire life, except for
1917 and 18, when he served in World War I, and for 13 years which he spent
working in Cloquet, Minn. as a young man.
He was a farmer in Colburn and also janitor of the Huron School for 22 years.
He was married to Marie Simon at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls on Sept.
26, 1923, and was a member of St. Mary's Church of Huron and the Gilman Legion
Post.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Isabel Nesterick of Gilman and
Mrs. Patricia Usher of Waukesha; one sister, Margaret Heighton of Stanley; and
seven grandchildren. His father, mother and one brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church in Huron,
with the Rev. Paul Ischler officiating.
Burial was in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
