Mess, George A. (27 SEP 1939 - 7 MAR 2013)
George "Diddy" A. Mess Jr., age 73, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at
his home in Spencer with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held
at 12:00 Noon, on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010
East Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield. The Rev. David DePaoli will officiate.
Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Spencer. A time of visitation
will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Diddy was born on September 27, 1939 in Marshfield, the son of George Sr. and
Gladyce (Thiemke) Mess. He attended school in Marshfield. He was united in
marriage to Jean Woodkey in Waukon, Iowa on December 17, 1958. He worked for
Scorpion Industry in Crosby, MN, then went on to work for Crafts Trading Center
in Marshfield for 17 years and later he worked at A&B Process Systems in
Stratford. Diddy was known as a "Jack Of All Trades" and never really quit
working. He would fix just about anything that people would bring him.
He was a lifetime member of the Marshfield Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited.
Diddy enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, and snowmobiling. Those that knew
him best will miss his "Fidling in the Garage" and his love of garage sales
(better known as junking).
Diddy is survived by his mother, Gladyce; wife, Jean; children: Glenn Mess,
Bonnie (Patrick) Long, and Randy (Rodette) Mess; grandchildren: Derek, Angela,
Ashley, Tiffany, Amanda, Samantha, Rodi, and Chylee; as well as 11
great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings: Gail (Brad) Beal,
Gary (Julie) Mess, and Glen Mess; as well as many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. He is also survived by his beloved dog Heidi. He will
truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Sr.
