Maslowski, Elizabeth (100th Birthday - 12 JUN 1965)
Mrs. Elizabeth Maslowski, one of the oldest settlers in the Thorp (Clark Co.,
Wis.) area, celebrated her 100th birthday at a party given in her honor by her
children on June 12, 1965 at the St. Hedwig's Parish Hall. She is the mother of
twelve children, seven of whom are still living. She has thirty-three
grandchildren and eighty-seven great-grandchildren.
She was the wife of Simon Maslowski, who passed away in 1930. Mrs. Maslowski
moved to Thorp with her husband and three children from St. Paul in 1892, and
lived most of her life on a farm in the Thorp area. She is a Gold Star Mother,
as her son Leon lost his life in World War I.
There were one hundred thirty-five present at this party, including all her
children except two sons from California who did not attend. Mrs. Maslowski was
presented with an orchid corsage, a beautifully decorated birthday cake and many
gifts and greetings from President Johnson and Governor Knowles. She also
received a Papal Blessing from Pop Paul VI. Masses were offered in her honor on
Saturday and Sunday. Rev. Edward Masalewicz led ..(the rest of the story was on
