Miss Joan Alger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Alger, Sr., of rural Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Thomas Ruff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ruff of Boyd, on Saturday, July 31st, 1965 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boyd. Father Vincent Schwartz performed the ten a.m. ceremony. Richard Zais was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Meyer as organist.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a simple styled white, floor length gown of organza over taffeta with empire waist and A-line pleast down the front. The full train had appliqued daisies, which matched the daisies on the neckline. A headpiece of petal effect, accented with drop and seed pearls and sequins held her shoulder length veil, and she carried a bouquet of red roses with white carnations.

Donna Ruff of Milwaukee was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Carol Alger of St. Paul and Mrs. Ann Maria Mueller of Milwaukee. Sandra Alger of Thorp was senior bridesmaid and Linda Ruff of boy was junior bridesmaid. They wore floor length gowns of white organza over powdered blue taffeta with a light empire waits and lace decorating quarter length sleeves and waist accent with a cabbage rose and panel in the back. Their headpieces were a cabbage rose with butterfly veil. They each carried a miniature white lace parasol decorated with white and blue carnations which were worn closed for the ceremony and open after.

Wayne Pilgrim of St. Paul was best man and groomsmen were James Ruff and Gordon Mueller, both of Milwaukee. Ushers were: Gerald Alger, Milwaukee and Richard Ruff, Union Grove.

A dinner was served at Thorp Finance Dining Hall, with the reception and dance at Rainbow Gardens.

Mothers of the bride and groom wore a corsage of red roses and white carnations.

The bride attended Thorp High School and the groom Cadott High School. The new couple will make their home at 2820 W. Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee.
