Haavisto, John (1895? – 14 FEB 1964)
Eino and Albert Haavisto motored to Duluth, Minn.,
Monday, February 17, where they attended funeral services conducted for their
brother, John, 69, who died of a heart attack.
He passed away February 14 in a Duluth hospital
after a short hospitalization.
However in recent months he had suffered
frequent attacks.
Funeral services were conducted from a Duluth
Funeral Home with Rev. Aukee, former Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen,
officiating.
Burial was made in a Duluth cemetery.
John Haavisto was born at Ely, Minn., and spent most
of his younger years in this community being employed by the John S. Owen Lumber
Company.
He lived here in the early 30’s where he has since
resided.
For the past several years he has lived in retirement.
He is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Hilja Haavisto,
three brothers, Eino, Adolph and Albert, Owen; four sisters, Mrs. William
(Laina) Strand, San Diego, Calif., Mrs. George (Laura) Hasek, La Mesa, Calif.,
Mrs. Marvin (Alma) Roberts, Madison, and Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Simons, Owen.
