Davel, Mr. and Mrs. John (Gold – 19 JUN 1948)
Golden Wedding Anniversary
Saturday, June 19th was the Golden Wedding Anniversary of one of Spencer’s old
settler couples, Mr. and Mrs. John Davel, who very quietly but happily
celebrated the day with all of their children and all but two of their
grandchildren present.
Their children, Mrs. (Mildred) Jerome Misuraen and daughter Joyce of Kankakee,
Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Davel and children Elaine and John of Milwaukee; Mr.
Lyle Davel of Mountain Home, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. (Grace) Arthur Funk and son
Vernal of Cudahy; Mrs. (Winifred) Walter Schulz and son Dennis of Mountain Home,
Ark.; came for the week end. Mrs Earl Berg of Marshfield was also a dinner guest
Saturday.
Two grandchildren, Dr. Le Roy Misuraen and Dean Funk in the Navy, now at
Washington D. C. also two sons-in-law, Jerome Misuraen and Walter Schulz were
unable to be present.
Fourteen of this estimable family were seated at the table Saturday for the
wedding dinner. The table was covered with a beautiful damask linen cloth of
beautiful design and 50 years of age and graced with a wedding cake made by Mr.
and Mrs. Davel’s two granddaughters, Joyce Misuraoa and Elaine Davel. Also
centering the table was a gorgeous hot house bouquet, gift of the Spencer Modern
Woodmen of which Mr. Davel has been a member for a good many years. Mrs. Devel
also used some of the dishes which they received for wedding gifts fifty years
ago.
Another nice gift was a beautiful floral table cloth from the Spencer R.N.A. of
which Mrs. Devel has been a member a number of years. There was also a purse of
money from their children and grandchildren and cards of congratulations and
well wishes form their many spencer friends.
Spencer and community wishes to congratulate this worthy couple and extends good
wishes for many more anniversaries.
