Edwin Guth (2 Jul 1891 - 25 Mar 1973)

Funeral Held at Dorchester March 28, 1973 For Edwin Guth, 81

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Salem United Methodist church, Dorchester, for Edwin Guth, 81-year-old Dorchester resident who died Sunday (25-Mar-1973) at Memorial hospital, Medford. Rev. Milton Petzold officiated and burial took place in Dorchester Memorial cemetery.

The body lay in state at the Kraut-Maurina funeral home, Dorchester. Serving as pallbearers were Lloyd Guth, Bruce Tessmer, Roger, Gerald, and Douglas Gumz and Arnold Thieme.

Mr. Guth was born July 2, 1891, at Kewaskum. He received his education in Marshfield schools and attended Valparaiso college. In 1904, he moved with his parents to Clintonville and later to Marshfield and in 1912 moved to the town of Mayville, Clark county.

His marriage to Louise Meyer took place May 29, 1915, at Salem United Methodist church. After their, marriage they operated the home farm until their retirement in 1946. The couple then moved to Hortonville and lived there for 11 years and returned to the Dorchester area in 1957, For the past two years they have been residing in the village of Dorchester.

Mr. Guth was a member of Salem United Methodist church and served 13 years on the Hilltop school board in the town of Mayville.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Alvin, Rice Lake; a daughter, Verna, Mrs. Frank Gumz, Marshfield; a sister, Alma Bleck, Clintonville, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
