Neillsville Locals (12 September 1968)
Mr. and Mrs. Duane Dahnert and family of Belvidere, Ill., visited his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahnert, a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Dahnert and
family recently moved to Belvidere from New Holland, Pa.
Mr. and Mrs. George Randall and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Randall returned Monday to
their homes in Fond du Lac following a weekend visit with their brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahnert.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Subke, Sr., and their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Cappy Weeks,
visited last week Wednesday in Mt. Sterling with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and
Mrs. Al Holmes. Mr. and Mrs. Weeks left Friday on their return trip home to
Everett, Wash.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simek spent the weekend in Wausau with his mother, Mrs. Frank
Simek, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Harold Gault, and family.
Jim Simek, police chief in Abbotsford, spent the weekend at the Simek home here,
and with his grandmother, Mrs. Leonard Wachholz.
Alan Carl, who recently returned from Vietnam, left last week to visit his
sister, Mrs. Tim J. Dunn, and family, and his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce E. Carl, in Racine.
Mrs. Hugh Howard left last week for Houston, Tex., to help care for her son’s
family while Mrs. Dawayne Howard is receiving care in a hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Noah of Nora Springs, Ia., spent the weekend with her
mother, Mrs. Margaret Haberle, and her sister, Mrs. Lee Kapfer. Sunday, Mr. and
Mrs. Kapfer and Mrs. Haberle and guests were dinner guests at the Bobby Kapfer
home in Wisconsin Rapids. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kapfer and family
of Rockford, Ill.
Mrs. Carl Koehler of Milwaukee, who had been spending several days with her son,
the Rev. W. C. Koehler and family has returned home.
Mrs. Georgianna Guzman and four children of Atlanta, Ga., are planning to leave
next week for their home, following an extended visit with her sister, Mrs.
Cahit Ozturk and family.
Mrs. George Grether is expected home later this week from Trotwood, O., where
she is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Albert Gress.
Joanne Grether who spent the summer working in Geneva, Ill., at a girls’
training school, is spending a few days with her parents, The Rev. and Mrs.
Jacob Grether. She plans to leave later this week to resume studies at the
University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Weister and family of Marshfield were dinner guests Sunday
at the Albert Marks home.
Tommy Wren, who underwent an emergency appendectomy last week in Memorial
Hospital, returned home on Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Amos Grundahl of Janesville called one afternoon last week at the
Edwin Evanson home. They were enroute home from Northfield, Minn. They also
visited Mr. Evanson, who has been a patient in Memorial Hospital since last
week. Other visitors at the Evanson home during the week were Mr. and Mrs.
Orville Evanson and Mr. and Mrs. Roland Evanson of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar
Gunderson of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard James and grandchildren of
Antigo.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ray drove to Stevens Point Sunday, taking their daughter,
Sherri, there to enter Wisconsin State University. Mr. and Mrs. Art Carl
accompanied them.
John Volkert, who recently returned from a summer in England and Scotland under
a student program, has resumed his studies at Macalester College in St. Paul,
Minn. He spent a few days last week with his uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. Robert
D. Peters.
