Vine, Jean (Marriage - 21 September 1968)
In a 7 p.m. candlelight service Saturday in the United Methodist Church in
Neillsville, nuptial vows were exchanged in a double ring ceremony by Miss Jean
Vine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theamore Vine of Rt. 2 Granton, and Gordon Eugene
Penrod, son of Mrs. Edward Penrod and the late Mr. Penrod of Keansburg, Ill. The
Rev. William Dushek of the United Methodist Church performed the ceremony. One
hundred guests witnessed as Mr. Vine gave his daughter in marriage.
For her wedding she chose a white satin gown, styled with an Empire waistline.
The A-line skirt was of ankle length. The bodice was enhanced with bell-shaped
sleeves. Venice lace accented the hem, sleeves and the detachable train. She
carried a white Bible, a memorial to the memory of the groom’s father, topped
with cascading white chrysanthemums and stephanotis.
Miss Fern Vine was the maid-of-honor. Judith Gerhardt served as bridesmaid. Each
wore an ankle length blue crepe dress. Their jackets and dresses featured long,
bell-shaped sleeves of Chantilly lace. Each aid carried a bouquet of gold and
white chrysanthemums, accented with foliage and a gold velvet bow.
Roger Krasselt of Milwaukee was bestman. Groomsman was David Vine. Harold Vine
and Richard Vine ushered.
Wilfred Galstad sang, “The wedding Prayer” and “Whither Thou goest,” accompanied
by Mrs. Iris Musil, who also accompanied the congregation as they sang, “O
Perfect Love.”
The new Mrs. Penrod, a 1962 graduate of Neillsville High School and a 1966
graduate of the Wisconsin State University-Stevens Point, taught last year at
the Ocean View School District in Huntington Beach, Cal. Mr. Penrod, a 1962
graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and a 1964 graduate of Wabash Valley Junior
College in Mt. Carmel, Ill., recently returned from Vietnam. He is returning to
