Hastreiter, Marcella R. (14 DEC 1917 - 12 MAR 2013)

Marcella Rose Hastreiter, 95, Marshfield, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. Burial will take place on Monday at 11:00 am in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 pm until service time at Rembs Funeral Home.

Marcella was born on December 14, 1917 in Colby, WI to Henry and Mary (Kraus) Eckes. She was educated at St John's Catholic School and was a 1936 graduate of McKinley High School. She graduated from the National School of Dress Design, Chicago, IL and attended the UW Marshfield, where she took classes in advanced tailoring and hat making.

She was employed in the office of Weinbrenner Shoe Co. During WWII she was employed in the office of Bombardier/Navigator School Army Base, Santa Ana, CA and the office of McKesson and Robbins in Fresno, CA. She was united in marriage to Lt. Eugene W. Hastreiter February 12, 1944. After marriage she worked as a cashier at Central State Bank in Marshfield and later as a bookkeeper for Hastreiter Lumber Assn. in Pulaski, NY.

She and her husband built and operated the Hillcrest Motor Lodge in Marshfield for 27 years. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Parish CCW. She was a treasurer of the Marshfield Music Club and member of the Fortnightly Music Club. She was treasurer of Columbus Music Assn. and, honorary lifetime member of the Music Masters of America.

She is survived by her sons, Terry of Newark, TX; Randall (Donna) of Marshfield; and daughters, Sharon (Randy) Kressler of Fort Worth, TX; Patti Hastreiter (Andrew Waldbart) of Howard, CO; and Sandra (Brian) Rasmussen of Mound, MN. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jamie (Chris) Jordan, Marshfield; Adam (Melissa) Frey, Fridley, MN; Rob, Erin and Katie Rasmussen, Mound, MN; Christopher, Kathryn, Stephen and Andrew Hastreiter, Marshfield; great grandchildren Selah, Jenna and Hannah Jordan; and Tristan Frey; sister Elinor (Donald) Krasin, Marshfield; son-in-law Bill (Lisa) Frey, Marshfield and special friend Mary Berkholt, Marshfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; daughter Janice Frey; brothers, Bernie and Jake Eckes and sister Marie Fochs.

The Family asks that memorials be given in her name to a Veterans Association, the Marshfield Civic Band or a charity of the donor's choice .
