Lindner, John F. (8 March 1898 - 19 September 1968)
John F. Lindner, 70, of Greenwood was killed last Thursday afternoon by a
falling tree while cutting firewood on the farm of his brother, Anton Lindner,
south of Greenwood.
Mr. Lindner was born March 8, 1898, at Millston. In 1912, he came to Clark
County, where he engaged in farming. He was married to Loriena Humke October 4,
1931, in Greenwood. In 1958, the Lindners retired from farming and moved into
the city. Mr. Lindner was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of
Columbus and the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Karen) Martens of
Milwaukee, Mrs. Roger (Alice Nielsen and Miss Diane Lindner, both of Greenwood;
two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bushman and Mrs. Gerald (Anna) Denk and four brothers,
Matthew, Casper and Erhart Lindner all of Greenwood; and a grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from St. Mary’s Catholic
Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Leander Koopman officiated. Burial was made in St.
Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were seven nephews: Bernard Lindner, Carl Lindner,
Vincent Lindner, Herbert Lindner, Hubert Schmitz, Arthur Bushman and Romaine
Denk.
