Vollrath, George William (24 March 1886 - 1 October 1968)
George William Vollrath, 82, a lifelong resident of Greenwood, died last week
Tuesday in Neillsville, where he was a hospital patient since September 7,
following a stroke.
Mr. Vollrath was born March 24, 1886, in the Town of Warner, the son of William
and Anna (Harian) Vollrath. He was married to Mrs. Anne Dahlby March 23, 1935,
in Greenwood. He farmed northwest of Greenwood until he retired and moved into
the city.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Onetta) Rahm of Wilkinson,
Ind.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Elenor Plank of Greenwood and Mrs. Durward
(Alvera) Schwarze of Granton; a step-son, Orton Dahlby of Cornell; two brothers,
Ernest Vollrath of Greenwood and Bernard Vollrath of Caro, Mich.; three sisters,
Mrs. Clara Metcalf and Mrs. Ida Speich of Greenwood and Mrs. Emma Gerlach of
Neillsville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in
Greenwood. The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews, Kenneth Vollrath, Gary Speich, LeRoy Metcalf, Lyman
Johnson, Edward Gerlach and Dale Metcalf.
The Rev. and Mrs. Arvid Myhrwold sang, “Does Jesus Care” and “Tis but a Little
While,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Don Warner.
