About 65 relatives attended a reunion of the Kalepp family Sunday at Red Arrow Park. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kalepp, Dorchester, and their family, Mr. and Mrs. William Kalepp and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kalepp and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kattre and family.

A picnic dinner and supper were served. Connie Kattre and Debbie Schlais entertained with music.

Mrs. Audrey (Wiese) Calmes of Elcho recently received a Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Stevens Point with a grade point average of 3.81, which is the highest honor. She will teach again this fall at St. John’s School in Antigo. Audrey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Wiese, Abbotsford.

A daughter was born July 20, 1977 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield to Mr. and Mrs. David Ploeckelman, Colby. She weighed seven pounds, nine ounces and was nineteen inches long. They names her Carrie Theresa.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Riese, Colby, and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ploeckelman, Stetsonville. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Martin Weix, Colby, Mrs. Dorothy Buehler, Medford, and Mrs. Hattie Ploeckelman, Sheboygan.

She joins a sister, Wendy, 1 ½, at home.

Mrs. Ella M. Pempek, Athens and Lawrence J. Hiebl, Dorchester were united in marriage July 15, 1977 in a 6 p.m. candlelight service at St. John’s Catholic Church. Father Charles Hiebl, brother of the groom, officiated.

Mrs. Elizabeth Holbach of Athens is the bride’s mother, while George Hiebl is the groom’s father.

The maid of honor was Ms. Mary Hiebl, sister of the groom. The bridesmaid was Jenny Pempek, daughter of the bride.

The best man was Donald Ewan, a friend of the groom. His groomsman was Randy Pempek, son of the bride. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her oldest son, Brian Pempek. She wore a pale blue chiffon dress and carried red roses, ivy and baby’s breath.

A dinner, reception and dance were held at the Memorial Hall in Dorchester.

The couple is living at Rt. 2, Athens.

Larocque, Sandra Jean (23 Jul 1977)

Sandra Jean Larocque and Guy Russel Thomas were married July 23, 1977 during a 4 p.m. ceremony at First United Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Rev. Robert Everhard officiated.

The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Aurele Larocque of Abbotsford, while the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas, also of Abbotsford.

The bride wore a long white gown of cotton and lace, with an empire waist and ruffled flounce. She carried a bouquet of baby’s breath and daisies.

The maid of honor was Linda Hardrath, sister of the bride. The bridesmaid was Roxanne Swacker of Abbotsford. They wore sheer blue flower gowns with empire waists. They carried single long stemmed blue carnations.

The best man was Carl Hardrath, brother-in-law of the bride. Bob Messman was the groomsman. The ushers were Gary Thomas and Cheryl Larocque.

Following the ceremony, a buffet supper and reception where held at the home of the bride’s parents.

The groom is a 1973 graduate of Abbotsford High School. After a stint in the air force he is now employed as a truck driver for Kraus Trucking in Stetsonville. The bride is employed by the City of Abbotsford. They will make their home in Stetsonville.

Zugier, William (1 Nov 1916 – 23 Jul 1977)

William Zugier, 60, of Route 1, Abbotsford was pronounced DOA at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield July 23, 1977, after he was injured in a farm accident at a nephew’s farm in Mayville Township.

Funeral services were held July 26 at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Rev. Kenneth Loehrke officiated. Burial was in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eugene Graffunder, Gene Ridderbusch, Arden Peterson, Gerald Pinter, Leon Lueddecke and Jerry Schultz.

Zugier was injured when he was working at the Alvin Zugier farm, when he was injured while attempting to move a hay elevator. The elevator tipped on him, crushing his chest. Clark County Deputy David Bertz investigated.

Zugier was born November 1, 1916 in Dummer, Germany. He moved to the U.S. in 1924 and settled in the Town of Deer Creek in Taylor County. He moved to the Town of Holton in 1936 and farmed there ever since.

Survivors include brothers, Paul of Dorchester and Alfred of Lublin.
