Three area students are among the students who received degrees completing their
work at UW-Madison.
James J. Umhoefer of Colby graduated with a Master’s degree in behavioral
disabilities.
Receiving Bachelor degrees were George Edward Kelsey and Susan Marie Runzheimer.
Kelsey, Abbotsford, graduated in botany. Runzheimer, Colby, received her degree
in nutritional sciences.

Navy Personnel Man Third Class Less D. Armbrust, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Armbrust of route 1, Curtiss, has returned from the Silver Jubilee cruise to the
United Kingdom.
He is serving as a crew member aboard the replenishment oiler USS Milwaukee,
homeported in Charleston, South Carolina.
His ship was a member of a seven ship task group that visited the United Kingdom
during June and July, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Queen
Elizabeth’s coronation. Additional, the task group, which had embarked 400
midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy and collegiate Naval Reserve Officer
Training Corps units, conducted intensive training during the cruise. The
exercises included task group operations, ship-handling, gunnery, engineering,
communications and electronic warfare.
In addition to the United Kingdom, he and his shipmates had the opportunity to
visit France, Scotland and Ireland during the cruise, and participated in
athletic events and social function with the host countries.
He joined the Navy in July 1975.

Jennifer Polnaszek, 318 N. Third Street, Abbotsford, was among 108 high school
students who participated in a July 24 – 29 Journalism Workshop and the
University of Wisconsin, Whitewater.
The workshop, sponsored by the Kettle Moraine Press Association and the
UW-Whitewater Department of Journalism, was divided into beginning,
intermediate, and advanced sections, emphasizing skills needed for editing
school newspapers. Professor Richard Nelson was workshop director.

Pauline Stoiber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stoiber of Dorchester, and
Jon Zweck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Zweck of Edgar, were married July 23, 1977
in a 2:30 p.m. ceremony at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Father James
Schaefer officiated.
The bride’s parents gave her away. She was dressed in an ivory organza and
Chantilly lace gown, which was trimmed with pearls and a powder blue sash. Her
hat was of Chantilly lace with an ivory veil.
She carried an ivory lace fan trimmed with yellow roses, blue poppies,
forget-me-nots, lily of the valley, and baby’s breath.
The maid of honor was Carol Kadonsky, Milwaukee, a sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Julene Stoiber, Dorchester, sister of the bride, Teresa Zweck,
Edgar, sister of the groom, and Margi Zweck, sister of the groom from
Janesville.
They were dressed in powder blue pleated gowns, with fitted bodice and sheer
shoulder length cape. Their flowers were nosegays of assorted summer flowers.
They also wore a spray flowers in their hair.
The best man was Rick Dins of Wausau. Groomsmen were Bob Zweck, Edgar, brother
of the groom, Gene Hintze, Wausau, and Mike Schneider, Wausau. Ushers were Joe
Zweck, Edgar, brother of the bride, and Steve Kadonsky, Milwaukee,
brother-in-law of the bride.
A reception, dinner and dance followed at the Dorchester Memorial Hall. After a
wedding trip to Kentucky, the couple will make their home in Wausau.
The bride was a 1972 graduate of Colby High School and a 1974 graduate of NCTI.
She was employed by Klinners Company, South Carolina.
The groom, who graduated the same years from both schools, is employed at
Cheese’N’More in Merrill.

Airman Frank M. Sterzinger, whose mother is Mrs. Corsina C. Sterzinger, has been
assigned to Chanute AFB, Illinois, after completing Air Force basic training.
During the six weeks at Lackland AFB, Texas the airman studied the Air Force
mission, organization and customs, and received special instructions in human
relations. Completion of the training earned the individual credits towards an
associated in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.
Airman Sterzinger will now receive specialized training in the vehicle
maintenance field.
The airman attended Colby High School.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ried are the parents of a son born July 23, 1977 at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces. He was 21 ½
inches long. They named him Stephen Michael.

On July 30, 1977, the 1967 class of Colby High School held its 10-year reunion
at the Village Plaza in Spencer. A cocktail hour from 6:30 – 7:30 was followed
by a dinner. After dinner entertainment was by two disco jockeys from WIFC,
Wausau. On Sunday a mass was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby for the
two deceased members, Darrell Krebsbach and Gerald Sterzinger. There were 120 in
the class. Teachers present were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Subera.

daughter, Rachel Louise, to Tony T. Yaron, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Yaron of
Dorchester.
The future bride is a 1975 graduate of Owen-With High School, and received an
Associate Degree of Arts from the University of Wisconsin system.
Her fiancé graduated in 1972 from Colby High School. He served in the U.S. Navy.
At the present time he is an electronic student at NCTI at Wausau.
A September wedding is planned.

Kathy Lynn Rankl and Bradley Scott Runge were married July 23, 1977 in a 7 p.m.
service at the Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester. Rev. Milton Petzold
officiated.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Rankl, rural Abbotsford, and Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Runge of rural Unity.
The bride’s father gave her away. She was wearing an A-line dress of silk
organza, which was trimmed with Venetian lace. The back had a Watteau panel
flowing into a chapel train. She wore a Camelot headpiece with fingertip veil
edged with Venetian lace.
The maid of honor was Sherry Steen, a friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were
Peggy Tischendorf, Dorchester and Sue Thibodeau of Wausau, both friends of the
bride. The junior bridesmaid was Gail Rankl, the sister of the bride.
The attendants wore A-Line dresses with hooded jackets and white hats trimmed to
match the dresses. Each carried a long stem rose colored to match the dress.
The groom’s best man was Dennis Rashka of Colby, a friend of the groom.
Groomsmen were Randy Fischer of Unity, a friends of the groom, and Randy Runge,
Milwaukee, a brother of the bridegroom.
Ushers were Kurt and Kraig, Rankl, brothers of the bride.
Kent Petzold was the organist. He played selections from Bach. Mrs. Alice
Kollath, Wausau sand “The wedding Prayer” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
A reception and dance were held at the Sword in Colby. The next day, a gift
opening dinner was held at the Colby VFW.
The bride is a 1976 graduate of Colby High School and a 1977 graduate of NCTI in
Wausau, where she took and operating assistant’s class. The groom is a 1975
graduate of Colby High School, and he attended NCTI, also he is employed by Mark
Construction of Colby.
The couple will live in Milwaukee.
