Lutz, Janice Marie (16 Jul 1977)
Janice Marie Lutz of Marshfield and Richard James Gumz of Dorchester were
married July 16, 1977 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. The
Rev. M. Martinson, assistant pastor of the parish, officiated at the 1:30 p.m.
ceremony.
The bride was given away in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lutz of
Marshfield. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gumz of Rt. 1,
Dorchester.
The bride wore a full length bridal gown in the empire style of sheer organza. I
had a high neckline, Bishop sleeves, and a skirt seeping to a chapel train
The maid of honor was Nancy Lutz of Marshfield. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Diane
Lutz of Wausau, Mrs. Nancy Fekete of Wisconsin Rapids, and Miss Madelyn
Tromanhauser of Medford.
The best man was Dave Rau of Dorchester. Groomsmen were John Fryza of Stratford,
Ronald Lutz of Wausau, Doug Riske of Athens, and Dough Oehler of Winter Haven,
Florida. Ushers were Randy Lutz of Marshfield, Daniel Zahn of Milwaukee, and
Steve Kadonsky of Milwaukee.
A reception, dinner and dance were held at the Knights of Columbus Clubhouse in
Marshfield.
The bride is a 1973 graduate of Marshfield Senior High. She also graduated from
Mid-State Technical School in Marshfield in 1975. She is planning on attending
UWC-Marshfield.
The groom, a 1972 graduate of Colby High School, attended Mid-State for two
years and graduated with a degree in farm business management. He is engaged in
dairy farming.
Following a honeymoon trip to the western states, the couple will live at Rt. 1,
Dorchester.

Colby Lions President Harold House turned the keys to the new Colby ballpark
restrooms to Mayor Lloyd Scidmore during the Thursday evening ceremonies.
Included in the ceremonies was C. Jerry Vrana, a member of both the Lions and
City Council. The building was donated by the Lions, who donated many hours of
time to construct the facility. Victor Bungaard, former Lions president,
initiated the project. Besides the restrooms, the facility contains a concession
stand and storage areas.

Terri Weiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Weiss, Route 1, Abbotsford, and
Laurie Weix, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weix of 417 North 5th Street,
Abbotsford were two of approximately 140 high school students from throughout
the country participating in the Lawrence Summer Session – 1977 at Lawrence
University in Appleton, earlier this summer.
Both girls were on the Lawrence campus for two weeks. Six subjects were offered:
computer programming, French, music, physics, and theatre and writing; and both
studied writing and music. Writing was their major subject, and music was
studied as a secondary, minor subject.
All classes were taught by members of the Lawrence University faculty and staff.
Upper class Lawrence students and outside authorities also assisted with the
classes.
Both girls are students at Abbotsford High School, lived in Sage Hall, a
Lawrence residence hall, and ate at the University’s Downer Commons during he
summer session. Social and recreational activities also were part of the
two-week program.
Lawrence University is an independent liberal arts college and conservatory of
music, with a coeducational enrollment of approximate 1,275. The 1977 summer
session at Lawrence was the first held at the Appleton campus and will be
repeated in 1978.

After five years in Medford, Dr. N. O. Jackson will be returning to the Colby
Dental Clinic.
He recently purchased the building from Dr. Larry Biggs, his former partner when
the building was constructed in 1971. Biggs will be moving to Illinois.
Jackson said the Colby office has sentimental value to him. He will work alone
in the office.

The annual meeting of the Colby Memorial Cemetery Association was held in the
Colby City Hall on August 1, 1977.
The association wishes to acknowledge with appreciation the $1,000 gift left to
it in a Will by Robert O. Harvey of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a former resident of
Colby.

Arland V. Stall, 86, a former Colby resident who now lives in Footville, showed
3,00 of his buttons at the Green Vista Wednesday afternoon. Stall, whose
collection numbers about 10,000, has been collecting the items for over 30
years. He says that he has no idea what the collection is worth in monetary
terms.

Darla Desotelle has been named manager of the First Financial Savings and Load,
Abbotsford.
Desotelle joined First Financial two and one-half years ago, working in Wausau
as a savings teller, loan processor and loan officer.
The Wausau native previously served as a group supervisor with Chesapeake and
Potomac Telephone Company in Maryland for eight years.
Desotelle will lived with her two children at 210 Butternut Street in
Abbotsford.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Schreiber, 423 Butternut Street, Abbotsford, are the parents
of a baby boy born at the Marshfield Hospital August 2, 1977. He weighed 8
pounds, 3 ½ ounces and was named Jeremy Gerard.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Wichlacz, Milan, and Mr. and Mrs. Roman
Schreiber, Athens.
