service.
He was baptized Cavan Edward. Sponsors were Dale Mueller, Eau Claire, Darrell
Mueller, La Crosse, Sue Penzstadler, Oshkosh, and Rhonda Starkweather, Colfax.
A reunion and baptism party was held at the home of the grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Edwin Mueller, Colby Guests were from Oshkosh, Colfax, Eau Claire, La
Crosse and Colby.

Now at home to friends and relatives in Brookline, Massachusetts, are the new
Mr. and Mrs. James D. Runzheimer. The marriage service uniting Janice Lynn
Gardner and James Delano Runzheimer took place Saturday, June 25, 1977, at 4
p.m. at Suffolk Christian Church, Suffolk, Virginia.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gardner, Suffolk. The groom’s
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Runzheimer, Colby.
The Rev. Larry W. Schmidt performed the double-ring ceremony, assisted by the
Rev. Dr. Robert Marr. Mary Baines and Susan Runzheimer were trumpeter and
organist, respectively; the vocal selections were “Jesu, Joy of Man’s
Designing,” and “The Wedding Song.”
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a formal gown of candlelight
sata peau and Alencon lace. Its empire bodice was accented by a Victorian
neckline. The A-line skirt flowed into a chapel length train. She wore a
matching walking length mantilla to complement the gown, and carried a bridal
bouquet of gardenias, white sweetheart roses and stephanotis.
Jeanette Jones, Richmond, Virginia, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were
Mrs. Dana Jameson, Alexandria, Virginia, Charlotte Lee, Suffolk, Suzanne Lee,
Richmond, and Maria Paluccio, Quincy, Massachusetts, Robin Spraggins, Austin,
Texas was junior bridesmaid, while the flower girls were Dawn Redmann,
Janesville, and Jane Runzheimer, La Crosse.
The attendants wore gowns of polyester in mint green and pastel yellow, each
styled with and empire bodice and a V-neck and trimmed with cape sleeves. They
carried nosegays of daisies, yellow sweetheart roses, and baby’s breath.
The Rev. Arthur Sekki, Ann Arbor, Michigan, served as best man. Groomsmen were
Stephen Ringlee, Boston, John Schmelzer, Arlington, Virginia, Mark Runzheimer,
Colby, and Lofton Runzheimer, La Cross. Dean Redmann, Janes viler, was the
junior groomsman. Ring bearers were David Redmann and Kurt Runzheimer.
A reception was held at the Planters’ Club on the Nansemond River, following the
ceremony.
Mrs. Runzheimer is a surgical nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Runzheimer is a 1977 graduate of the New England School of Law in Boston,
Massachusetts. He is a lawyer and accountant, employed as a tax consultant by
Coopers and Lybrand, a CPA firm in Boston.

Shirley Oehmichen Winnes, daughter of Ralph Oehmichen, Colby, was among the
students receiving degrees from UW-Eau Claire during commencement exercises
August 6, 1977.
Mrs. Winnes received her Master of Science degree in business education.
Campus honors received by the graduate included being a member of Delta Pi
Epsilon, a national honorary professional graduate fraternity in business
education. She is present teaching at Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute,
Green Bay.
At the commencement, 151 Bachelor degrees were handed out, while 75 graduate
students received diplomas.

commencement exercises at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.
A total of 829 seniors and graduate students received degrees at the
University’s summer commencement exercises August 5, 1977.
Included on the graduation list were 488 candidates for Bachelor’s degrees, 295
for Masters degrees, and 46 for Doctor of Philosophy degrees.

Julianne Weix, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Weix, and Eric Gerlach, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Revel Gerlach, Marshfield, were married in a 1:30 ceremony July 30,
1977 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby. Father Rushman performed the
ceremony. The bride’s parents gave her away. She wore a white A-line dress with
ruffle around the V-neck. The dress had long sleeves, a lared skirt with trim
around the bodice, sleeves and a train, to accent it. Her flowers were yellow
roses, mint green daisies and baby’s breath.
The maid of honor was Janet Weix, Oshkosh. Bridesmaids were Kristine Nikolay,
Marshfield and Connie Gerlach, Marshfield. They wore dresses that had long bell
sleeves, with a floor ruffled yellow chiffon garden print pattern. Their flowers
were mint green daisies with baby’s breath.
Laurie Weix was flower girl, while Jonathon Bengford was ring bearer.
The best man was Paul Stickert, Marshfield. Groomsmen were Steve Ott, Marshfield
and Russel Rasmussen, Marshfield. Ushers were Joe Weix, Colby and David Gerlach,
Appleton.
DuWayne Franson, brother-in-law of the bride, Pittsville, sang.
Following the ceremony, a dinner was held in the school gym.
The groom is a 1969 graduate of Marshfield High School and a 1975 graduate of
MSTI with a degree in business management. He is employed in farming.
The bride, a 1973 graduate of Colby High School, and a 1974 graduate of MSTI in
Medical Assistance, is employed as a medical assistant at the Marshfield Clinic.
Following a honeymoon trip, the couple is residing in rural Marshfield.

Two area students are among College of Agriculture and Live Science students
recognized for outstanding scholastic performance during the past semester at
the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Only full-time students with “B” or better grade average with no failures or
incompletes are eligible for recognition on the “Dean’s List.”
George Sledge, Associate Dean of Academic Student Affairs said that last
semester, so 2,400 undergraduates were enrolled in the college’s 22 departments.
They selected from five curricular options, which stress either business and
industry, natural resources, natural science, production and technology, or
social science.
The students are: Donald Brent Nelson, Route one, Abbotsford, in agricultural
engineering, and Susan Marie Runzheimer, Route 2, Colby, in Nutritional
sciences.

Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Primeau, Abbotsford, celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary with a dinner and open house July 29, 1977.
The 5 p.m. dinner was held at the Florina Supper Club, with 40 persons in
attendance. An open house at the Colby VFW took place between 8:30 p.m. and 1
a.m. The next day, a family picnic was held at the Erv Primeau’s in Curtiss.
A yellow corsage and a boutonniere were worn by the honored couple.
They were married April 19, 1927 at St. Mary’s Church in Wausau. Attendants for
the marriage were Evelyn Primeau and Roy Ebben, both of whom are now deceased.
Primeau was born July 4, 1903 in Wisconsin Rapids to Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Primeau. There he received his education. Before he was married, he did farming
and mill work in Wisconsin Rapids, Arpin and Wausau.
Mrs. Primeau was born Frances Ebben on November 12, 1906 in Thorp. She received
her education at Thorp, and at Wausau Business College. Her parents were Mr. and
Mrs. George Ebben.
Both are in good health and enjoy square dancing and gardening as hobbies.
While married, they farmed near Arpin, before moving to a farm near Colby in
1937. They moved to Abbotsford in 1964., leaving the farm.
He then worked at Wick Home for two years. Ever since he had been custodian for
Security State Bank.
Children of the couple are DeVere, New York, Capt. Don G., Norfolk, Virginia,
James, (Evelyn) Hyde, Ozark Arkansas, Mrs. Manny (Mary) Firnstahl, Colby, Erin,
Curtiss and Garry at home. The couple also has 16 grandchildren and 1
great-grandchild.
The celebrated was postponed from April to July because the family could not get
together.

March and is now farming near Unity.

Joel Benjegerdes was awarded a four-year ROTC scholarship to UW-Stevens Point by
Lt. Col. Thomas H. Sellers, Sr., at the Orville Benjegerdes farm, rural Colby.
Only 5,500 of these awards are made every four years, and competition is keen.
Upon graduation from college, he will become a commissioned officer in the Army.
