Public Invited to ‘Barn Dance’ to Support Farm Tech Days

The community is invited to attend an upcoming “Barn Dance” as a toe-tapping way to support the Clark County Wisconsin Farm Technology Days.

“People should come out to have fun, have a good time and support a good cause,” said Sharon Rogers, Farm Tech Days hospitality chairperson.

The Barn Dance will take place April 2 at the Neillsville American Legion from 5 to 10 p.m.

“We would have liked to have it in a barn, but we didn’t have one that was heated that we could use. So we chose a nicer, big place as an event venue for local farmers and ag people to gather and support Farm Tech Days,” said Rogers.

The ticketed event will still have a farm theme. It will include a “typical country meal” of pulled pork on a bun, coleslaw, baked beans, cheese, macaroni and cheese and dessert. Attendees will also receive a glass with a drink ticket. By purchasing a ticket for the Barn Dance, people will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a 30-pound meat bundle or a turkey.

“We had several businesses that purchased meat in the 4-H sale donate it to us… We have half a cow, one or two pigs, and a sheep. So we’re estimating we’ll have 30 to 50 bundles,” said Rogers.

Guests will also have the chance to purchase extra tickets for the meat bundles if they would like their name entered multiply times.

Also part of the event will be a variety of basket raffles and a silent auction of items with a higher monetary value.

The night will wrap us with music by Richie Yurkovich & Polkarioty, local three piece band from Willard, from 8-10 p.m. The band’s namesake plays the accordion and button box and does vocals and MIDI effects. Gabe Yurkovich plays the drums and sings, Scott Benson plays guitar, banjo and drums, and provides vocals.

The band was contacted on short notice for this event. Although they had events booked for almost every weekend already, they happened to have April 2 open, so it worked out well, Rogers said.

“They are very popular in the area and throughout the state. This also keeps it a local group. We are trying to stay local as much as we can,” said Rogers.

People are encouraged to get their tickets early as ticket availability cannot be guaranteed the night of the event. Advance tickets are available at WCCN/WPKQ Radio and the American Legion in Neillsville, Fourmens Farm & Home and the House of Spirits in Loyal, and Centuries on Main in Greenwood. People may also contact Rogers at 715-937-1254 to purchase a ticket.

About Farm Tech Days

The Roehl family will host Farm Tech Days at Roehl Acres and Rustic Occasions just south of Loyal. The dates are July 12-14. The event is expected to draw 40,000 to 50,000 people.

“It’s truly a countywide effort. It’s about supporting our local farmers as well as those statewide,” said Rogers. “We’ve been getting a lot of financial support throughout the county. We’ve been fundraising on a daily basis.

Although the Barn Dance will be the last formal fundraising event before Farm Tech Days, fundraising will continue. Volunteers are also needed to serve at Farm Tech Days. For more information on becoming a sponsor or to volunteer, visit www.wifarmtechdays.org.
