Galen Laack Stars on Air force Basketball Team
Cpl. Galen W. Laack, former Abbotsford High School basketball star, has
completed his first season as a member of the Warren Air Force Base (Wyoming)
Avenger champion cage team.
The 19 year old airman, son of Mrs. Daisy Laack, Abbotsford, was a key man in
Warren’s defensive and offensive set-up throughout the 1950-51 season.
His constant ball hawking and ability to score in the clutch were leading
factors for the Avenger’s successful season and clean sweep of the Western Are
air Training Command tournament at Phoenix, Ariz., early in February.
The Avengers also copped the Rocky Mountain Armed Forces League title for the
second straight year, racking up five conference wins with no losses. The
finished the past season with an impressive 15-4 record.
Cpl. Laack enlisted in the Air Force September 20, 1950. Upon completion of
basic training to Lackland AFB, Texas, he shipped to Warren.
