Frane, MaryAnn R. (Michlig) (27 DEC 1928 - 13 MAR 2013)
MaryAnn R. Frane, age 84, of Colby, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at
the Colonial Center in Colby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m.
Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. Father Dan
Hackel will officiate.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
from 4-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 4 p.m. and again visitation will be held on
Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of services at St. Mary’s in Colby. Burial
will follow the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
MaryAnn was born December 27, 1928, to John and Catherine (Handrick) Michlig in
the Town of Hull outside of Colby. She was a graduate of Abbotsford High School.
MaryAnn and Donald Frane were united in marriage on January 14, 1950, at St.
Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. In the 1960’s she was the owner and
operator of the Spencer root beer stand. Later, she worked in housekeeping at
St. Joseph’s Hospital until retirement in 1992.
MaryAnn was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. She was a
member of St. Mary’s Christian Mothers. MaryAnn enjoyed baking, crafting, square
dancing, sewing, collecting dolls, fishing, puzzles, and playing games. Most of
all she enjoyed spending time with her family and praying for others.
MaryAnn is survived by her children, Gene (Barb) Frane of Rhinelander, Gary
(Yvonne) Frane of Willard, Allen (Carol) Frane of Colby, Roger (Laura) Frane of
Curtiss, Darlene (Dan) Schneider of Stratford, Karen Jakel of New Lisbon, Joe
(Linda) Frane of Stratford, Janice (James) Kilty of Spencer, Julie (Sergio)
Navarro of Lino Lakes, MN, and Cathy (Joe) Clement of Abbotsford.
She is further survived by 29 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; her
brothers, Hilarian (Mona) Michlig of Curtiss and David (Beverly) Michlig of
Abbotsford; and her sisters-in-law, Beatrice Michlig of Colby and Dorene Michlig
of Colby.
MaryAnn is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; and her brothers, Jerome
Michlig and LaVerne Michlig; and her sister, Lorraine Ewert; and her son-in-law,
Charles “Chuck” Jakel.
Maurina Schilling Funeral Home of Colby is assisting the family with
arrangements.
