Hanson, Mildred E. (Olson) (24 FEB 1917 - 12 JAN 2013)
Mildred E. Hanson, 95, Rib Lake, died on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Golden
LivingCenter in Rib Lake, where she had resided the past eight years. Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at First Lutheran Church in Westboro,
with Rev. Dr. Bob Giese officiating. Interment was at Mount Olive Cemetery in
Westboro.
Pallbearers were her great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Scott, Zachary
and Clayton Ruesch, Cody and Austin Ewan, and Cole and Jeffrey Quednow.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with
arrangements.
The former Mildred Olson was born on February 24, 1917 in Abbotsford to the late
Harry and Mary (Zahorka) Olson. She attended Abbotsford elementary schools, was
a 1935 graduate of Abbotsford High School and attended the Eau Claire School of
Beauty Culture. She worked as a beautician and telephone operator in Abbotsford.
On July 17, 1939 in Waukon, Iowa, she married John A. Hanson, her high school
sweetheart. He preceded her in death in 1993. They moved to Westboro where she
resided until moving to Golden LivingCenter in December 2004. She worked for the
Town of Westboro elections for many years.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church and past member of the Ladies Aid. She
enjoyed shopping trips, ceramic painting, camping, snowmobiling, baking,
reading, listening to polka music, and was a Johnny Cash fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean (Duane) Scott and Joanne (Peter) Quednow,
both of Westboro; a brother, Harvey (Pearl) of Abbotsford; a sister-in-law,
Dorothy Westendorf of Withee; a brother-in-law, Cletus Schraufnagel of Colby; 9
grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Steve Scott.
The family requests memorials be given to First Lutheran Church.
