Sophia Laughlin (6 Sep 1865 - 5 Sep 1946)
Mrs. Sophia Laughlin, 80, a resident of Marshfield since 19__, was found dead at
about 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at her home 201A W. Depot Street. Dr.
F.A. Boeckman, deputy coroner, who was called to the home, stated death
apparently occurred about 10 hours earlier, the result of a heart attack. She
had suffered a stroke about four weeks ago.
The body is lying in state at the Rembs Funeral Home, where a rosary service
will be held Friday evening at 8:15 o'clock. The Requiem High Mass will be read
by the Very Rev. Michael J., Kelnhofer at St. John's Catholic Church Saturday
morning at 9 o'clock, after which interment will be made in the family lot at
Hillside.
Mrs. Laughlin, nee Parrson, was born in Sweden Sept. 6, 1865. Her first husband,
John Sullivan, died in 1914, and her second husband, Dennis Laughlin, died in
1918.
She came to America when she was 14 years old and settled in Denver, Colo.,
where she lived for several years before going to Montana. She resided in
Montana until coming to Marshfield in 1919.
Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren are the only surviving
relatives. A son, John Sullivan, and a daughter, Mrs. Mayme Ludovic, preceded
her in death. Her grandchildren are Mrs. Emil (Dutch) Lang, Wisconsin Rapids;
Edward Ludovic, Marshfield; and Jimmy Sullivan, Stevens Point.
