Goerg, Herbert "Herb" F. (5 MAY 1923 - 8 FEB 2013)

Herbert "Herb" F. Goerg, 89, Medford, died on Friday, Feb. 8. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating, and full military honors performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford.

Pallbearers are his grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Webb, Sarah and Jacob Borshard, Christopher Goerg and Nathaniel Wood.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE:
Herb served in the U.S. Marine Corps from March 1943 to March 1946, where he was a radio operator while serving in the Pacific Theatre WWII. He received rank of Corporal. Herbert saw action on Iwo Jima and witnessed the flag raising on Mount Suribachi. Herbert had 29 years of service at the Medford Post Office, where he was a city carrier and rural letter carrier. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and all music, whether it was playing the piano, the organ or singing in church choirs.
