Riemer, Ruth M. (Ludwig) (20 APR 1920 - 30 JAN 2013)
Ruth M. Riemer, 92, Medford, died on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Deerview Meadows
Assisted Living in Medford, where she had resided the past 6-1/2 years, most
recently under hospice care.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church
in Stetsonville, with Father Gerard Willger and Father Sangmoon Kim officiating.
Interment of her cremated remains was at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in
Stetsonville. Urn bearers were her children.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with
arrangements.
The former Ruth Ludwig was born on April 20, 1920 in the Town of Little Black to
the late Louis and Bertha (Peissig) Ludwig. She attended Liberty Elementary
School in the Town of Little Black.
On September 9, 1936 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, she
married Norman Riemer, who preceded her in death in 1997. They farmed in the
Town of Little Black for many years. She also was a housewife and mother.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, quilting,
gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include nine children, Joyce (Eugene) Erickson of Jackson, Karen (Otto
Jr.) Olson and Rhonda (Mike) Handel, both of Medford, Richard of Fond du Lac,
Marjean (Steven) Zemaitis of Mesa, AZ, Kristyn (David) Tickler of Park Falls,
Jon (Julie) Riemer of Osceola, Phyllis (Bill) Schafer of Brodhead and Larry
(Pam) of River Falls; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Riemer of Stetsonville; four
siblings, Arthur of Medford, Dennis (Jeanne) of Elkhorn, Betty Fahrenbach of
Rhinelander and Marianne (Bob) Olson of Washington; 25 grandchildren; 30
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son,
Marvin in 2011; a grandson, Gordon Olson in 2006; a great-grandson, Gary Olson
Jr. in 2009; a sister, Lucille Gruny; and two brothers, Harold and Jim.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the family for
future designation.
