S-Sgt. Wojcik Laid To Rest
Funeral services were conducted last Thursday morning for Staff Sgt. Stanley B.
Wojcik, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley J. Wojcik at 10 o’clock at Christ The
King Catholic Church by the Rev. Bernadr [sic] Henry.
After the Requiem High Mass, full military rites were conducted by the Lee F.
Pickett Post of the American Legion of Spencer at the Catholic cemetery where
interment took place. Taps were sounded by William Meizger.
Staff Sgt. Lowe of Fort Sheridan, Ill., was the military escort for Sgt. Wojcik,
who was killed in action February 2, 1945 while fighting on Luzon in the
Philippines. Local business places were closed here during the funeral.
Pallbearers were Munson Vanderhoof, ErvinWestfall; Julius Schroeder, Edward
Huber, William Weis, and Rarold Walterbach, Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Fred
Bruesewitz, Mrs. A. Messer, Mrs. William Weis, Mrs. George Schwantes and Mrs.
Ervin Westfall.
Relatives frow [sic] away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wojcik,
Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wojcik, Sutter Creek; Calif.; Mrs. Leroy Kreelow,
South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. John Iurinski, Port Edwards; Mr. and Mrs. Adam Wojcik
and Miss Anna Wojcik, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. John Wojcik, Ogema; Albert Wojcik,
Chicago; and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wojcik and John Patutski, Wausau.
