Raether, Marlene H. (14 AUG 1965)
Repeating marriage vows during a 6:30 candlelight wedding ceremony, solemnized
in St. Mary's Polish National Church in Lublin, were Marlene Hope Raether,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Raether of Stanley, Wis., and roger Peter Duce,
son of Mary Duce of Chicago, Ill., and Richard Duce, Stanley, Wis., on Aug. 14,
1965.
Officiating at the ceremony, at which Raymond Raether gave his daughter in
marriage, was Father Matla. The organist and soloist were Mrs. Stanley Hooker,
who sang "I Love Your Truly" and "Ave Maria."
The bride, carrying a cascade bouquet of red and white carnations, wore a floor
length gown of peau de soie trimmed with Chantilly lace. Her waist length veil
of white tulle was held in place by a crown fashioned with Austrian Aurora
crystals.
Miss Ramona Raether was her sister's maid of honor, wearing a street length
formal of carnations red taffeta with white accessories.
Bridesmaids were Helen Des-Jorden of Milwaukee, Beverly Moe of Chippewa Falls,
and Sharon Vetterkind of Thorp. They wore dresses identical to the maid of
honor's and all wore shoulder length veils and crystal head crowns identical to
that of the bride, with white accessories, and carried bouquets of red and white
carnations.
The groom and best man, Joseph Duce of Chicago, a brother, wore white and black
tuxedos with a red carnations boutonniere. The other groomsmen were James
Raether, brother of the bride, of Milwaukee, Richard Duce Jr. of Chicago, and
John Bill Jr. of Chippewa Falls.
Ushers were Alan Euclide and Dennis Mathias of Medford, both cousins of the
bride.
Miss LaVonne Duce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Duce of Stanley, was flower
girl. She wore a miniature bride's gown identical to that of the bride , and
carried a bouquet of red and white carnations. The ring bearer was Gary Duce,
brother of the groom.
Immediately following the ceremony a dinner was served at Koolmo's Ballroom at
Gilman, to 450 guests, and a dance followed.
Guests attended from Seattle, Wash., Pennsylvania, Minneapolis, Chicago,
Milwaukee, Chippewa Falls, Stanley, Thorp, Owen and Withee. The couple will
reside at 3553 N. Oakland, Milwaukee, Wis.
